How do you intend to use the four areas of the media theoretical framework (acknowledge C and C of existing media, audience to communicate meaning and meet the requirements of your chosen brief? ( approx. 400 words) (200 words each one for production and one on website)
MAGAZINE:
My brief is to produce the first two issues of a music magazine's front cover and contents pages, made for retail distribution to a 16–25-year-old audience, and two pages for the working website for the music magazine company. My product will be targeted primarily to young adults since music magazines are mainly read by young adults, I want to represent the audience within the magazine discussing topics that they feel represent them, creating artists which represents younger adults. My music magazine will have a pop style to capture the largest audience in music, allowing the audience to engage with the magazine being displayed, with the elements of younger artists on the front cover talking about themselves, this will help to create representation for 16–25-year-olds to relate to. I want to remove the exclusivity of political and cultural conversations that are 'reserved' for adults in this magazine and display the content to young adults in a genuine and respectful light. I will use a combination of shots and poses to ensure that the magazine remains professional looking as well as creating variety in the issues. My contents page and front cover will be similar to create a sense of each individual issue being unique to one artist. My contents page will be very image driven to create visual attention grabbers for the audience. I am taking inspiration from large name music magazines such as Rolling Stone and billboard, but making it more stylised to a younger audience with inspiration from magazines such as FADER.
WEBSITE:
Researching large music industry websites helped to create my plan for my final piece. I intend to use a colour scheme of three colours, black, white and blue as most websites use only three in their website design this helps to display the seriousness of the publication but also uses blue as a pop of colour to create brand identity. I will feature the magazines name at the top to garner the most interest and attention on the site and create brand identity and association by using the same fonts throughout to keep a sleek design. The images featured will be those from an interview with the artist of issue 002 as well as images used to represent to individual articles to create a visual interest in the articles. The page will include hyperlinks to the purchase the magazine and the social media platforms of the magazine to promote buying the product as well as display a wide range of ways to interact with the content created by the magazine. My audio-visual element will be an exclusive video interview with the artist of issue 002 this will be easily accessible from both a main article on the home page and in the menu section at the top under ‘Features’. My website will also feature a pop up on visiting, encouraging viewers to subscribe to create exclusivity for certain members to different articles.
How do you intend to link your media products to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the digitally convergent nature of your media production? (approx. 100 words)
The cover will be largely displayed at the bottom of the home page to encourage audiences to buy an issue of the magazine. There will be a consistent use of brand identity throughout both website and magazine, the magazine will have a call to action link to the website on the contents page promoting readers to read more on the website, the contents page will also have a qr code that takes you directly to the website. Website will include advertisement to link to magazine and relevant to the music industry/ audience viewership.
